One day old gosling can’t walk.

She was walking really good last night and now she is back to day one and I don’t know what to do. She is still pooping brown with bubbles so it’s not like she has something bacterial or anything like that. I am just so upset and don’t know what more to do. Last night she walked over 6 feet to get to me and know she can’t stand or walk again.

Do the other’s poop bubbly puddles?

The first droppings from digested yolk can look like that but runny droppings with bubbles can also indicate gas from an infection in her digestive tract. It could be something like coccidia or a bacteria.

Is taking her to a vet an option by any chance? I understand if it isn’t but at this point this looks like it’s more serious and probably not something that can be fixed without knowing the cause.

I have some corid because last year my chick got sick with green poop and bubbles, and I thought it was corid so I have all the little chicks and the big hens it a few times.

Should I give her some corid?

If it is coccidia you can give her and the others corid, it will treat the issue but might not fully eliminate it.

Corid works by inhibiting the ability of coccidia to absorb B vitamins so you shouldn’t give b vitamins during treatment or it will all be for nothing.

With critically sick birds with coccidia Corid isn’t necessarily a good choice of treatment in my opinion because the bird needs b vitamins badly, an antibiotic called SMZ TMP is a better choice than corid because it will kill the coccidia as well as other sensitive bacteria and you can still give your bird b vitamins.
SMZ TMP should not be given along with excess potassium or supplements with potassium though, the antibiotic inhibits the kidneys from getting rid of excess potassium and it can build up in the bloodstream to toxic levels as a result. Otherwise SMZ TMPis fairly safe compared to some other antibiotics.

The safest treatment for coccidia is toltrazuril, it kills the coccidia like SMZ TMP but doesn’t appear to have negative side effects from what I’ve found so far. Toltrazuril is ridiculously costly however, so $80+ for a medication if you’re not sure what the cause is doesn’t seem like a the best choice.

Try giving her corid, but if she starts getting worse consider taking her to a vet and getting a fecal stain and fecal float to see if there’s any parasites or bacteria that could be causing the issue.

You can buy SMZ TMP fish antibiotics online, blindly using an antibiotic without knowing what’s wrong is honestly really bad, but if that’s the direction you want to go you’re not alone, that’s the only option many of us, including myself often has. SMZTMP is a tricky antibiotic to find the corect dosage for though.

I think it’s wry neck not wet neck. She won’t make it.

They can survive wry neck with vitamin treatment
As long as you can help her eat and drink
Have you done the vitamin E capsule opened and spread on scrambled eggs
Even after they are better it says keep up with the vitamins for a few weeks
I’m praying for you and the little one
I know how hard it is to watch
