DUCKGIRL89, I was reading your BYC page and I'm so very sorry to hear about Alex. How sad I would have been very mad also. }}}RIP... Alex I think your ducks are pretty & i think you really take an interest in them.
I love having my Lucky Duck as a pet. We have a great bond he follows me every where when I'm in by him. I have to go through his area to get to my other ducks & he just stands there on the other side of the wall and waits for me to get done with the others even if it takes me an hour or so. He eats outta my hand ,never bites and he loves to try and attack the water as it streams out of the hose. My other two duckies, Jack & Jill they are very friendly too. When they hear my voice they start yelling /quacking very loud its so funny. They would always snuggle up to our neck when my mom and myself would hold them when they were tiny babies. I love having them (my ducks) as pets. And your right they are smart. I love it best when Jack & Jill turn their head side ways and look up at me when I'm talking to them. Lucky is Rouen/Golden Cascade and Jack & Jill are Golden Cascades. ~IMO... It's NOT A CRIME, NOR IS IT CRUEL TO ONLY HAVE 1 DUCKLING AS A PET.!!! You've gotten some really good advice DUCKGIRL, now you actually have to follow through with it. If I remember correctly, this subject has come up a few times with people giving the same advice, yet similar threads keep popping up.
Breeding birds isn't something you can decide to do one week, and change your mind the next week. If you want to breed WH, you should be focusing on raising enough money to pay for quality birds from a good source. This means clearing out the breeds you aren't using for breeding and keeping it that way, not throwing eggs in the bator at random because you want to hatch some ducklings.

Lol, nice. Thats why I cant give up my rouens! I want to sell all the rouens, and spend my time and money on anconas and welsh harlequins, but I love them all too much
