Whoo Hoo! My GSD found a stash of 5 goose eggs hidden outside under some dirt the saturday after Thanksgiving. I incubated them and 3 of the 5 veined. Now one of the 3 is hatching.
I am hoping I don't have to help this one out because they alway need help. It has a hole about the size of a dime open. Nothing from the other two yet. Wow.

I will, they are the cutest babies. My other baby goose is already going to be 8 weeks on 1/1/2010 I didn't realize she was that old already but she is getting real feathers. I have put her in the chicken coop and let her out to roam with the other geese (who she does not like) during the day.
I am hoping that at least one more of the other two eggs hatch out so she isn't all by herself like the other goose.

Whoo HOo. Way to go....We have brown chinese and white chinese geese and the youngest of them just started laying!

It's really early for them to lay, I wish they wouldn't this early....Debating on hatching some......I think only 1 is laying right now but must go around and check on all the chinese.

With your africans, when do yours stop laying?

Congratulations! I think quite a few people got crazy early clutches. I know that we had a very cold week here (for us, was below 0) followed by a warm week. During the warm week I noted breeding activity, and now I have a sebastopol on eggs. Because the clutch is so early, I'm going to let her sit them. I wasn't expecting eggs until at least Feb!

It's not a huge clutch, but big enough. 5 eggs.

Have you had to help them before?

The one egg still only has that dime size hole and I can hear it in there. Is this typical for how geese hatch out? I am using the Brinsea and I can't see in there good enough to see if it is stuck or just resting.

I don't want to open it up because then I will have to help it out. And the others haven't pipped at all. Any suggestions?

The other 3 all needed some help getting out-but maybe I was too impatient. How long should I wait?
