One of those more dollar than sense coops.......Inside pictures added

I've always loved those coops. I think they are so cute. They remind me of the old Mac computers haha. I love the bright colors. I really want one of the new Cube house they just came out with but it's not in the US yet. Plus those are a little out of my price range.

I want to look at the websites they are on but I forgot what it is. Can anyone tell me the name of the website? Thanks-Chickenman8

Google search the egglu. There are several places that sell them but some have better prices than others. I know Murray McMurray has them as well as My Pet Chicken but I am sure there are a lot of others.

My wife convinced me to buy the Eglu. And I have to say I am very happy with it. My chicks love it and it is an ease to clean. Omlet sells a run extension for it that allows you to make the run longer. I am adding this on for my girls this winter. It is built solid, has locking doors, good ventilation, and the run can be staked to the ground. The run is stronger then you think. My little one runs at it full steam ahead and crashes into trying to get to the chickens-it doesn't budge. Many people poo-poo the Eglu, but I have changed my mind about it after owning one. It is a great design. My neighbor who has a few tractors and has been keeping hens for 20 years now wants one after watching me clean mine. I think the cost was worth it. I will have no maintenance for the life of the Eglu. It will out live me and can be re-sold on Ebay for quite a bit of money in future if I would choose to sell it. Which I won't.

I looked and drooled over the egglu for awhile until I looked at the purchase price plus shipping costs.... $700 is just too much for me to pay, though I really thought it was a fantastic idea!! I figure I have enough scrap wood and misc. stuff in my garage and basement to make a decent coop anyway.

But color me jealous!

YEA!! I'm so glad I posted pictures of my Eglu. Anyone who is interested should check out www.omlet.com they also have a forum, that is chock full of useful information. Initally I thought the price was a bit steep, but like IrishM pointed out, the price really isn't an issue when you figure the cost of maintaining a wooden coop. I saved for a while and then just used my tax stimulus check to cover the rest. I'm looking forward to the arrival of the Eglucube (which isn't available in the US) but I've already started saving.

Here are the picture of the inside of the Eglu (not as clean as I'd hoped but you all will understand.) As you can see because of the dome shape, there is plenty of room for 4 medium size hens.
