but I need to ask it anyway, so please don't laugh. Every day my sweet little silkie will lay her egg in an old horse stall. I'v noticed there is always 2 old dry pieces of horse poo in her nest which i removed each day. Today I went to get her egg and she was still on the nest making that don't touch my egg sound. So I moved her, the egg and nest (less the poo) in a muck bucket to the coop. She was going thru her nest like she was looking for the egg so I put it on top and still she was carring on I thought she would settle down. No luck so I went to the barn and got her 2 pieces of poo put that with her egg and now she is fine I have 3 roosters so I'm pretty sure her egg is fertile but why does she keep putting the poo in the nest with her egg does she think it needs fertilicer(sp) to grown into big chicks. should leave the poo or what
