What are you offering in silkies?

My dad is a big winkie, that's why. He's kicking us out.

I have a pair of whites and a pair of 'blues'. The blues are a black hen and splash roo. I've got 1 blue baby and 3 'grey' babies then 1 white youngster.

ETA: There is a list on the chickenstock thread in my signature line.

Yeah, every time I move, I hate it more. My DH would like to move somewhere with no chickens. Over my dead body! I have been an animal lover all my life, why would I want to change now? I used to raise caged birds like parakeets, canaries and finches. I just love birds, had the whole basement converted to flight cages so I could go in with the birds. Then bird seed got so expensive, I gave that up and got show dogs. We had Shetland Sheepdogs, Lhasa Apsos, and Belgian Sheepdogs. I used to show them in obedience and conformation. But the conformation end is very political, you get sick of that. Now I am into Nubian goats and LF chickens, with a side of silkies!

Soulsong - did your eggs arrive in tact? I just had 15 sizzle and silkie chicks hatch. These sizzles are from the same group your eggs came from.

The last one is still in the bator. They all pile up in the feed dish. I lost 2 before they got out of the eggs. One came out the side of the egg. I candled and all the air sacs where where they where suppose to be but it still pipped out the side. I gues it wanted to be different. This is the first time i've had so many whitesrown ones have some black and gold in their down too but it don't show in the pic. There are 2 so far with vaulted skulls a white and a black. I can't wait till they feather out. I know I won't be keeping many of them but I just wanted to raise some with this group of adults so I would both know and be able to show what they will look like. That brooder is a rainbow of colors.

I just had a hatch come off. One silver pencilled Plymouth Rock, one bcm. Lots of my barred rocks, which I sold already
Bonus, the people that bought the chicks also bought a goat! We still haven't had rain, it is so very dry! Then the pump for the well wasn't working, but DH was able to get it going again!

I know I have seen barred EE's on one of the swaps or auction threads, but I cannot find them. I want to put the breeder down on my list of names to contact at some point.

Also if you know anyone who has gorgeous EE's that are not BBS. I want to get as diverse colors as I can find. I prefer blue or green eggs.

Can anyone help me add some names to my list?

Thanks!!!

Are you looking for EE or americauna? I will be having the purebreds as soon as I get a roo, and the girls are laying reliably. We just got our first blue egg yesterday! Yay!

Well, I went to the chicken auction today. The bottom officially fell out of the market:-( Baby guineas went for $.75. Adult chickens as low as $2. It was pitiful . I guess maybe due to the heat, there was very poor attendance, and hardly anyone was bidding.
On a positive note, we finally got our first rain in about month ! I was running around closing coops since it was getting dark. The young bucklings were all yelling because the pasture they are in has no shelter, unless the gate to the barnyard is open. Which it was not, so I had to catch each one to show them where to go. That is how long it has been since they even needed to get out of the rain.
Some of the peanuts I planted are coming up, I never grew them before so I thought I'd try it. Oh, and the young chickens that were out running around had never seen rain in their lives! They totally didn't know what to do, so they just piled up in a big pile. If they would go around the back of the brooder, they could just walk in! Or even if they went around the side a bit they would be out of the rain. Instead they sat there and got soggy

lol Hot 2 Pot, that is too funny! I would KILL (well not literally....maybe) for some rain! We havent had any rain in over 40 days, and even then it was a 5 minute sprinkle that barely wet the stinkin ground! GRRR.... our well hasnt worked in years, pretty sure it is a pump issue.... needless to say I am glad we didnt plant a garden this year but I havent dared go check my gourds they are probably keeled over dead lol. I grow them and dry them and make lamps and paint them too.... stinkin weather is makin me very angry havent had a day under 100 in I dont even know how long, maybe since mid April? Had my bator goin for what seems like ages lol. Nonstop since the pheasants started laying. I have 14 eggs that go on lockdown tomorrow.... and the rest are all shipped/traded eggs 5 turkey eggs and 5 mille fluer cochin eggs.... oops I lied, I brought in some eggs from outside that I forgot the other day and they had frickin babies in them..... yeah it was so hot out that they actually started growin babies! HOLY COW! I had 4 with atleast 3 day old babies in there..... sheesh! They are in the bator and doin great though lol. Have a cage with two young pigeons in it in the living room want to make sure they can eat and drink on their own. Got them from Zeagler Farms and they were still in the nest. They are flying though. They appear to be atleast drinkin and I am pretty sure they are eating seed on their own too. Also have 5 pheasants in a brooder (homebuilt with plastic hardware cloth) that are a few weeks old, they love playing with bells lol. They will soon go outside especially if I hatch any that are in the bator out. I have two bob eggs that are in the bator that are in the aircell waiting to hatch...... They will be the first this year to make it, I have been so darn focused on hatching the pheasants I have neglected hatching any bobs. Just got back from our deep sea fishing trip (we took my dads ashes out to sea) and I have second degree burns on my legs below the knee.... that will teach me to roll my jeans up 30 miles off the coast.... lol. Well I want to know how the eggs are I sent out last week! Also I demand pictures if you guys hatch any out LOL. I have had bad luck with the actual hatching of my pheasant but the development has been great it is always the last three days that they die... it ticks me off, they do great under broodies though LMAO. Well g'night all I think I will go watch some TV since I am stuck on the night shift at the hotel I work at.
