I am NOT counting.

I know I will miss some. And I actually have no clue how many are on the farm now.

DH tells me I should know how many I have.. I count by age not breed. He seems to want to know how many of what........
hu.gif
I can tell you breeds, but not how many of each one! Sheesh! - well except my silkies
tongue2.gif

When the dog wiped out so many of ours, he counted the dead ones TWICE. I told him what was there and how many total. He wanted to know exactly how many of each breed we lost ........ sheesh. I told him I had 2 missing - would have been 3 but one ran up when we were out there that night. The other 2 showed up the next morning.

ETA: I know how many quail I have too - and those are 'his' not 'mine'

I don't need to know how many I have...then I'd just worry about how many I *should* sell off because I have too many. If someone comes up missing I notice. Yes, even with all these birds I do notice when someone is not underfoot.

Those are the smartest ones...I'll never be able to catch those suckers!! All 3 are roosters too, wouldn't you know?

I had a pair that went rogue and would not go back to the coop. They decided to live in the holly tree about 30 feet from my bedroom window. We caught the hen but she got back out. The rooster.... well lets just say my husband could only take so many months of him crowing at 1, 2, 3, 4 in the morning. He was starting to get a little cranky due to lack of sleep so after I made 4 failed attempts to catch and rehome the roo, he had a date with the gun

These boys were hatched by a 'wild' hen last year. When she started teaching them to roost she would take them into the 'rafters' of a building that is still in the working-stage. When she left the chicks she went back to roosting in the barn, but these guys decided to roost in the trees with some other birds. They are the only ones left in the trees, the rest decided they liked being warm and dry this past winter. The freaking guineas don't even roost in the trees, these are some crazy roosters!

Yeah, DH does not like roosters. He is a light sleeper, and has a hard time going back to sleep if he wakes up. Most of my roosters are far from the house except 2, which I plan to move once I get a couple more coops made. Maybe I will convert one of the old goat shelters again. I have less goats now, I used to have 100 of them! Down to about 20 adults plus kids. He likes having less, so do I when I have feet to trim.:-D

Me too, I have no idea how many I have. I only have 2 in the house right now. The house chicken and a pheasant chick that hatched early. It's impatiently awaiting for it's siblings to hatch. I don't even want to count how many I have. Most of the chicks that I have won't be staying as soon as i'm sure which are pullets out of the bbs orphs and only 2 of the ameracauna's will stay. The silkies stay till they feather out so I know which ones to pick from those. All the quail and pheasants stay and most of the guinea. I started with 7 last year and i'm down to 2 I may just sell the silkie eggs I have now or i'll hatch them. Still not sure. DH needs time to make more pens. lol

I have bad news Mike. One of the ducklings got bit by a snake yesterday and died. The snakes are out like crazy around here. We tried to catch it and kill it but too fast. A water moccason. With all the rains they are everywhere. The other 2 ducklings won't go in the pond now.
