Are these from me? If so I would be interested in seeing what your talking about as any eggs I listed as Mottled came from my Mottled pen when I had them penned seperate with nZero chances of any thing else getting to them. They have sinced been moved (a pair to my layer pen and the other girls were broodie and are now raising chicks) but were only ever listed as another option of a mixed color pen which I think you stopped swapping come then. I have pics of some of the babies I have from them listed on my website but most look like this guy below other than the blue mottleds. I need to get pics of the older ones but none a patchy here..

Mottleds start out white with a black stripe down their backs as chicks. This lasts (on my bantam cochins) until they are about 4-6 months old. When they go through their first molt, they will grow new feathers that makes them look almost completely black with a few random spots. The more they molt, the more spots they get.
This hen is about 4 years old:

The front hen is about 3 years old, the back hen is about 1 year old, the roo is about 2 years old:

I have some of Phoenix Feather Farm's Black Mottled. They are perfectly marked, mottled chicks. Little Black and white, penguins. LOL

The black mottled, in these pics, are from RFF.

Finally found out what gender the volunteer barn cat is. How do I know, when I cannot catch her? Here, kitty kitty. I see you have kittens! OMG, they are so cute !

But naturally they will need homes, and Wisp will need a spay job. So far i think there are 2, one grey and white and one black and white. Anyone need a barn kitten? They spit at me but did not try to bite or claw.I'd say around 5 or 6 weeks old.
Stayed up way too late last night , so i was groggy all day. I got yet another number from the government to call about a quail permit, but no answer yet from a live person.

someday I will find out .
Got a new circular saw, wore out the old one. Bought more welded wire for the run I am building. Stupid LSGD got locked in the garage because it hates rain and thunder . It tore the place up trying to get out while I was gone today. Knocked all the tools off the wall, knocked over recycling bins, dumped a bucket of feed. And I had kicked it out of there three times last night . Ugh, I was late getting back and so not in the mood. I mean, the garage was already a mess, it didn't need to get worse.

Hottopot i love your post.We are two peas in a pod. Some day we will get most of our projects done. If not their is always tomorrow.

please, none of us EVER get our projects done. We start a new one before we finish the last one and then start about ten more before we finish that one. LOL. I however came home to a happy report that the broke down trailers on the back acre that my dad lived in before he passed over a year ago, may very well get toted off by a neighbor, thank GOODNESS, I thought I was gonna have to burn em to the ground, and as dry as it has been it would have never happened! So I may get most of that pasture back meaning more room for more animals!

lol. I have a report that my mille cochins are hatching in the next couple of days 3 out of 5 in the air cells OH and I have baby pheasants popping out under a broodie tonight too!

I totally agree.. our project list is never ending..

I have resorted to having THREE lists - #1 is outside animal projects, #2 is other outside projects and #3 is inside projects.
I consider it a successful day if I can get at least ONE thing from each list done. I am a teacher off for summer vacation.. so have to add planning for next year to the mix.. but I have an urgency to get these projects done before school starts. After that, during the week is just keeping afloat with the feeding and general chores.. weekends are a flurry of activity as DH and I try to get some major work done.

With that being said - today I am planning to clean out the chick grow out section on the coop, mow some grass OR pull some weeds out of my raised daylily beds.. not enough water to feed the weeds and the daylilies.., and continue to work in my Mama's room here, putting away the things I kept after she passed away in Jan.

The weather man say we might actually get a shower this morning.. oohh what a blessing that would be.. I better go let the chickens out before the downpour..

one thing I would like to see everyone do.. well probably just because I seem to be a hatchaholic.. is to include a note in the box with your BYC user name and if it is one of the chains or a swap.. or just free cause you like sending me eggs
lau.gif
AND what the eggs are if they aren't marked.

I will often take an offer that is delayed for some reason - laying patterns, predator..etc.. and need to keep my mind straight. I have the "note" thing going well.. but have had the same people that I am expecting swaps from.. sending egg chain eggs.. and vise versa...

It is only me that is easily confused?

Shelly and everyone else, I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Just trying to keep it civil and/or nip it in the bud b4 it got out of hand....and for the record if the individual is responsible enough to participate I don't see a problem
