Okay this has nothing to do with the swap but I just had to post this here since I know most of you will understand.

Sometimes I just want to stop trying to help people here. I mean I try to post a helpful response and i get reamed by someone else who doesnt like my response. it just TICKS ME OFF!

Someone asked about a couple of hens and they are located in Europe. i had posted a passage on another persons thread explaining the (general and easy to understand for newbies) difference between EE, Ameracauna, and Aracauna. I copied it and posted it to that thread as a easy reference to keep myself from having to retype most of that info. several people jump my case because the standards are different and BLAH BLAH BLAH. I was like LOOK

if you dont like it then YOU answer HIM! GRRR I am so ticked right now. it happens more than it should but I usually dont get mad. Someone however directly insulted me because my post said that EEs are a mutt, they said that (ingeneral I am sure but they were referring to my post) I looked down on EEs because the Ameracauna breeders thought they were inferior. I was like WTH?! I OWN EEs SHEESH! I just get so mad! People can be so rude and hurtful!

Im gonna go crawl in a hole and post some stuff on Ebay for sale. I think i have had enough of BYC for a little while this evening.

thanks you guys i am feeling better now. I decided to look past this, I got many compliments on the original thread I posted the passage in, and was told that it pretty well summed it up just right so I am not letting one person burst my bubble and I am far too addicted to BYC to leave over that. I am sad though, one of the milles committed suicide. Truth is I had to help both of them hatch and I shouldnt have, the one I still have, has a leg issue, and the one that pecked itself to death had a deformed foot. It literally pecked its insides out....

So I dont think I am gonna have any mille cochins now.....

Well you win some and you lose some. I have two pheasant eggs that may or may not hatch this week and next weekend I have turkey eggs due. FINGERS CROSSED!

missred - I've had the same thing happen to me many times. The Ameracauna people get very defensive. Not all of them but I backed out of that thread completey and unsubscribed from it. I mostly stay in the swap threads now. I've been so upset several times and conciderred not coming back but I just love this site and all the information it has from the helpful people.

On another note......I've got 11 of those pheasant eggs left. A snake got some of them but i'm hoping I got the theif yesterday. It was in the nest but left with no egg. I disposed of the snake but I know i've seen 2 others behind the coop. I believe I injured them and haven't seen them back so hopefully I scared them away. I've been having eggs taken for little over a month. My coop is divided and has bbs silkies on one side and white on the other and the snake (s) only took the eggs from the bbs side. I did find an egg on the ground on the white side so I suppose it attempted to steal it with no success. The pens on the other side of the yard haven't been robbed at all.

I've been trying to find some minnow traps to see how many snakes I can catch. I may have to try to make some. Tonight i'm hunting mice. It seems they've decided to come inside to get away from the cat outside. I've caught 2 so far and one was pregnant. Now the cat is hanging out at the door waiting for her prize she didn't have to hunt for. By the time i'm back inside she has already devoured them. She got a bonus with the pregnant one. The darn things have been getting in Georges cage and eating her scratch and what ever left overs she may have at night. She screams at them and scares them away but of course they don't stay away. So the traps are around her cage. She goes to the side of her cage when the trap get tripped and watches the mouse. When I retreive it she just coos at me and when I reset the traps she does the same.

I am glad to hear you are ridding yourself of the pests though! Mice are terrible little critters! Cute, as long as they arent near my propery LMAO. I cant wait for my duck and chicken eggs to start hatching!

Missred.. so sorry that you were the victim of mean person syndrom..while there are many many friendly people on here, it can sometimes take just that ONE to throw a rock into the tranquil pond... they lead a negative life and know no other way than to try to infect your life with it too -- makes me sometimes want to reach through the computer for some country girl redneck justice..

On the cute side of life.. I have a wild mallard duck that has discovered my chicken coop.. I saw it yesterday.. at first I was upset at myself because I thought I had left one of my newly out of quarantine chickens out of the coop..then I got a side view.. Twas a duck..

She is out there again this morning.. it has gotten just light enough to see her out there nibbling around the front of the coop.. I wonder what the chickens think

I have a disappointing hatch on the 22nd.. I ended up with just a couple of chicks out of probably 30 eggs... so sad.
On a high note - I have some more eggs due today.. and since it is my brothers birthday.. I just KNOW I will have better luck.

I am officially done hatching for the year! I had 8 cochins from SoulSong hatch, so I am very happy. Not sure what color they will turn out to be. The darker ones seem black, possibly blue, and maybe splash on the lighter? I guess we'll see.

These swaps are so fun. Can't wait to do some swapping next spring. I would have participated a little more if my call ducks wouldn't have disappeared. I also butchered my lavender orp rooster so I couldn't swap those anymore. He was one of the meanest chickens I have ever seen.

I got 8 Cortunix quail to hatch out of eggs I got from Shellyd2008 and they have started to lay already. I got my first egg from them today.

Now too bad I have no clue on how to sex them so I know just how many females and males I have.

My luck I probably have 7 males and 1 female

These guys are so super friendly and will jump right on my hand. Plus very hardy. I recommend her quail eggs.
