Only 2 more months til Spring in VA!

I am going to click my heels and repeat to myself "spring is coming" over and over and over again. Fortunately I work from home so at least I am not having to get out in the cold too much. EXCEPT for checking on my duck babies constantly throughout the day and walking my dog. What part of Texas does your daughter live? I was born and raised in Dallas and almost 2 years ago moved up to our cabin in the Maryland mountains. Quite a change but I am seriously loving it.
:lau:lau:lau I'll click my heels together too! My daughter is in Houston and just loves it. After I complained about our 0 degree morning she sent me a pick of her with palm trees in the background and her with no coat  She misses the big trees here thought. I bet your view from your cabin is gorgeous!!!

A-Burr a’ is right out my back doorstep! Or anywhere under 32 degrees qualifies.
It a non-popular destination.
Hardly anyone likes to go there. They offer free tickets usually from December thru February. Special discounts for those wearing Fur or Feathers. :D
:lau Hey that's my home town this week!

Aha Houston is a tad warmer than Dallas generally speaking since it is more humid and close to the gulf coast. The winters are usually short and sweet in Texas but sometimes North Texas gets a pretty good wintery blast and all havoc breaks loose. Not usually as far south as Houston though. Ha! I do think though that I am ok trading the scorching summers that seemed like hell for a few below freezing days a year. The summers here are awesome so far but some of these winter days are pretty rough. I send pics to my Texas people in August with jeans and sitting at the fire pit watching the river go by. It is usually way to hot to be outside there in August unless you are in the water!! Oh yes we are loving our cabin life. We are trying to build a small homestead for the two of us. And the dog and ducks of course.

I love it! Happy Homesteading!!! I went to Houston in June once - it was 98 degrees and just as much humidity at 5am  by noon I was dying!!!!!

Looking forward to some warmer weather. The past few days have been so cold!

Not sure what we're going to do with our little duckies until then though. This is our first year raising them, and I'm not sure how big they have to be to go out in the cold. What I do know is that there is no possible way they they can stay in the brooder we have for that long.

Maybe we'll get lucky year and have an early Spring!

That was my situation last year. Got my first 2 babies in March and it didn't warm up enough to let them out until early May. I discovered duck diapers real quick! Good luck!!!

You and I are about less than 2 hours away from each other if I am thinking correctly so we are having similar weather. I am from Texas and literally have never been outside where it is 5 degrees before now. And my gas fireplace has decided to check out for the season. Ugh. I am getting schooled on winter this year I believe. 40 degrees sounds heavenly compared to this cold snap.
Where in MD?
