Oh yeah the one we are picking up tomorrow is a Lavender Orp. The others in the brooder is a Speckled Sussex, buff Brahma, Sapphire Gem, Barnevelder, barred rock, starlight green egger, and a Welsummer. All different breeds. Hoping they are hens!We were planning to get 4, next thing we knew we had 7 chicks. We are also picking up one more tomorrow, so a total of 8. I know it’s not a lot, but we have a small flock, going to be a total of 15 chickens.
It most certainly is!Chicken math is real!!
Lol I’ve never had control around chicks, kudos to you!!!I started with 4 but that shot up to 16 in a few months (oops.)
Now I have 7 and just barley hanging onto control.
I came into the winter months with 29, including my ducks. Bought an incubator. As you can see from my signature below, I now have "several" more - about 50, with 12 incubating and due to hatch in a week +/-. I'll start another 12 after that.
its so bad I went and got NPIP certified - but I'm not **buying** any more birds, so that makes it OK, right?
right???
RIGHT??
Please tell me that makes it ok... ;p
I also really want to try hatching, but i don’t have roosters and I can’t have roosters, so even if I bought eggs to hatch, they might be Roos.surprisingly, I haven’t tried hatching before... I feel like I would have eggs in there nonstop! It may be best for me to steer clear from that direction, but maybe in the future I’ll give it a try!!
