Afternoon all!!
Sheila, did the little chick hatch? It would be nice if another one hatched with it....dont give up on the seramas just yet.
A few weeks ago I gave up on my guinea eggs and THEN they hatched!! I am glad I hadnt taken them out of the incubator yet.
Not sure when my coop is going to be here/get built, hoping its soon.

Great news!

Swap Shop sounds fun! We used to have a kids show in the 70's with that name (so i've been told

) where kids used to phone in and offer stuff that they didn't use any more. It was really popular. Wish we had something like that now.

I got my freebie hens tonight. Gosh they are WILD! Hopefully they will settle down but they are never going to be super-friendly. Honestly I don't mind as long as they lay plenty eggs for me!

*sigh* PoultryLand is down, and according to a member here, if it's down you lose all your stuff and have to start over.

RIP Seto, Ninian, Tea, Naesala, Hatsune, Eliwood, Hector, and Ashunera. .

Ooo...Swap Shop! For years when I was growing up, we had one called "The Party Line" it was on for an hour or two every day.
Dont know if they still do it.

We used to have a "swap shop" each morning on the local radio. Sadly, that and many of the things that made this small farming community unique and a great place to raise a family are gone. The farms have mostly disappeared and the social makeup of the community has changed. The road I lived on used to have about 50 cars on it from 5-7am and the same returning vehicles in the evening. During the rest of the dy you might see 20 cars all day. Now the vehicle count is 1250 per hour and it doesn't lessen until after 10pm. I moved out here to avoid the urban congestion and sadly it has followed me. I'd move but since property values have plummeted I think I'll probably be here until the slam the lid.

Poor little thing finally hatched about 45 minutes ago and I think it may have an issue with its right leg-won't know until I can get it out of the incubator. This is probably the only one of this batch that is going to hatch-sure hope this little one makes it.

I did a little more research and spray lacquer would be the best thing to retain the color on the emu eggs. Apply four or five coats.

Opa the ones my brother painted on years ago have retained their color pretty well-of course, they have never been exposed to the sun. I'm sure he varnished them as well.
Sally is your DH doing OK?

Sunlight will leech the color from everything except people. When I was young it turned me an incredible golden brown that irritated my always working on her tan ex-wife. Now it just adds to the age spots and wrinkles.
