Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

Good day all,

I am having a wonderful time visiting with Harlan and family, what a great bunch they are! More later, but I do think we've cleared the city of seafood! What we might have missed will be taken care of at lunch today, wish they could stick around longer.

It sure is aggravating to wake up so early. 4am, that's still the middle of the night. It's several hours before sunrise and I will have probably drunk an entire pot of coffee before it gets here. Crossword puzzle is already worked so I guess I will just have to read.

I should probably try and read something about chickens. Maybe I could learn why mine have quit laying. Egg production had been about 18 each day and then it dropped to 7 or 8. Now the last 3 days it has been 0. I posted on the Michigan thread and several others are having the same problem and others have hens that are laying quite well. I think we have 4 or 5 large fowl eggs left and when they are gone we will only have 14 bantam eggs. Once those are gone I will be forced to buy eggs. Hopefully that doesn't happen as it will put my flock in jeopardy. I might get irritated enough to eat them.

Woo hoo! Heatwave in Scotland today! 75 degrees as of 3pm. Just headed out to the beach then we are having a bbq later. There is an abundance of white flesh on display today (not mine I hasten to add) and the shops are all running out of burgers and coleslaw etc. Considering today is probably the only summer we will get we might as well make the most of it!

Highlander, We, too, are enjoying an unseasonably warm day today. It's 11:00 a.m. and 79 F here! Going out to plant some onion plants that came in the mail this week. Not as much fun as a BBQ and the beach but I'll be enjoying the sunshine while it lasts!!!

It actually hit 80 degrees here yesterday. The hot air from the south bumping against the cold from the north kicked off a line of thunderstorms that blew through here last night. Fortunately we only got rain. Tornado warnings were posted from Oklahoma to Michigan's Upper Penisula but I have heard if any struck anywhere. Today they are warning of severe storms fro Texas to New York to Florida including my part of Michigan. They are calling for am thunderstorms here but hopefully it will be just rain and not wind.

Last Friday morning I was brushing my hair and commented to Hope that it sure was getting thin on top and she said the back is also looking rather sparse. Looked at it for a couple of minutes and then headed for the barbershop. Now my head looks like it did when I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood as a Drill Sergeant. Now if I could only get the rest of me to look like it did 45 years ago I'd be all set.
