Do you think the wood will rot in the DL?
Agrees holes in concrete blocks could be a problem.

Yes it will eventually don't you think? Plus with litter being damp when I have to water it, the wood isn't much of a barrier for the nest area.

Ehhhh...it might, it might not....doubt it would happen too fast.
Could use pressure treated.

I am going to whitewash the wood for now and see about something I can just run around the exterior of it as a moisture barrier.

Newest additions, they hatched yesterday. The chick left front in the first pic was an an early cull. Mobility issues, funky feet, couldn't hold itself up to walk well.

3/4 were sticky at hatch and I wasn't especially happy with the draw down of the air cells this time. All the eggs in this and the next hatch started in another incubator. 3 more eggs due 8/25, 1 more Turken/Bresse mix and 2 Dorking/Red Rangers that were shipped.

The flock is so calm now without all the extra boys.
