OPOSSUM!! PLEASE HELP

A few weeks ago I saw something fat that had dim stripes, looked like a skunk, but too fat to be one. It had a tail that was at least two feet long. I saw it walk under my shed and a few days later, I smelled something very bad that was coming from under my shed. Do you have any tips on getting rid of this opossum?

Set a live trap, and then shoot it. They are generally easy to trap, using chicken food or cat food.

Can you shoot it? Or know someone who can? If not you can always try trapping.

We are incapable of shooting the possum and would like to relocate it (I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to kill possum in our state). Live trapping would be the most viable option.

It's very likely illegal to relocate it in your state. Call your DNR first, before doing anything. It's better to NOT trap if you won't shoot it!

I just looked at your Maryland DNR site. You can easily get a permit to trap and eliminate such a critter, by calling the DNR office. It's posing a threat to your birds, and yourself, living where it is.

Ppl in my neighborhood seem to think possums are cute and non aggressive...
And they are cute - until I think of it hurting even a feather on one of my babies.
