I think the topic of the show is what matters here, abuse of animals. Even if Oprah isn't a favorite celeb, at least she is doing something. That's a whole lot more than what most of us can or are doing, her viewer numbers are huge and hopefully it will reach a few of the corporate powers and embarass them or start officials into investigating these places. Our animal friends have to count on us, they can't protect themselves.

to our critters large and small, feathered or four legged.

I'll probably watch just to see how lop sided the story is. I'm sure it'll be another instance of showing the worst of the worst over and over again and making it seem like that's the only way it is.

i cry when i see the commercials for prop 2, so i probably wont watch it, but she has alot of fans so hopefully it will get passed

stuff like that doesnt count if they only show the worst they can find,,, they look for the "problem" places and make that look like its the standard,,, that and her and martha are the the snottiest rude people out there tryin to convince people how nice they are,,,,,and their drunks lol

I don't watch her show either. I agree, she is like the rest of the news media, let us show the worst so everyone will assume that is the standard everywhere. If you ever want to watch slaughterhouse videos, check out PETA's website. (I had to watch these for one of my classes. I couldn't stand it.)

I have seen abused animals. Don't classify all dog breeders as puppy mills. Don't classify all farmers as abusers either. Don't classify everyone that has a pet/animal as a responsible owner. Unfortunately, I have seen too much of this too.

There was an article on a MO news channel of a sherrif's office that had neglected the health of it's canine unit. The article said the canine person had done this twice. The dog had the mange. The dog was found without food or water.

They should show what the FDA and USDA lets go into our food. Do you know some sick animals that are taken into a slaughter house, the staff is allowed to cut the diseased part out and process the rest. I got that information out of one of my veterinarian textbooks. Makes you want to go totally vegan or at least grow all of your own food.

Very, very few of the animals that are inspected in our country for food consumption are done in a proper manner. That's why so much abuse occurs. I don't understand why our there aren't more food inspectors out there to protect our food system. Without another set of eyes, it's much easier for disgruntled people to hurt many through our laxity.

It is true that a lot of downed animals and diseased animals are processed into pet food. Anything on the floor of a slaughterhouse such as feathers, blood, chicken etc. is labelled as "by product" is allowed. Many veterinarians wonder if the shorter life span of our pets and increase in diseases is due to what our animals consume.

I don't watch Oprah but yes, I agree with you. As someone who regularly visits large corporate farms to do state inspections - that stuff they show is few and far between. People get upset because ultimately the animal is being used for food. That is a logical response, no one wants animals to suffer. But the "industry" is in no way shape or form as bad as these programs make them out to be.
