Ordered eggs... so not happy

While things will happen, it should always be marked fragile and eggs. The large orange labels catch the eyes better than just writing. If you forget, then when you take them to the counter request they be stamped fragile. It is also good to let the clerk know there are eggs and request they be placed on top of the dispatch. Since it was not marked fragile, it would be stacked with all the others. A heavier box would crush it as the photo shows. The fragile packages are placed on top when transferred. One trick that sometimes helps is to put some stiff cardboard on edge inside to help support any weight. Packing should be put underneath on top and sides. Newspaper packs and will not protect like bubble wrap and peanuts.

The packing on the inside was wood chips

Yea... ordered eggs from ebay. So not happy. Bought 20 got 24. The pics will show why I'm not happy.... yes I know it can be a gamble to ship, but the packaging was horrible. Eggs protected by a thin wrapping of toilet paper inside the egg carton.
We can’t order fertile eggs off eBay here. But still that is just terrible packaging. My dad had bought some fertile eggs from a breeder, and most hatched. I don’t exactly remember the packaging, but only one or two were cracked.

I agree that your eggs were not packed appropriately at all.

You are 35 minutes down the interstate from Cackle Hatchery. Have you considered getting your hatching eggs from them to avoid shipping issues? I don’t know whether they have duck eggs available.
I love the hatchery, but wanted some mix breeds (I know that sounds wierd.) As far as I know they dont sell duck hatching eggs

That is crap! I quit shipping and buying hatching eggs. 50% or less is not good enough and I would kindly ask for a refund.

I know I wrote eggs and fragile on a box of eggs I sent out before. And I was really leary of putting that on the box because I’ve heard they are extra rough with boxes that say fragile on them. It’s mainly in the large sorting warehouses. My local lady said no one she knew that worked for USPS would purposely be rough with a delicate package. I shipped on my dime since I was learning. And boy were they rough with the package. The box looked like the one in this thread. But luckily only a couple broke. I can tell you they were really really rough on the box somewhere along the way.

Color catches the eye. If you do not have different colored label then use something like a red felt marker. Write on all sides. Put the accepting person on notice that is is fragile. They won’t care to have you coming back upset with them. If you have damage fill out a complaint at USPS. COM. Make it as obvious as possible. If it doesn’t get attention then when it gets to the bulk mail center it could possibly be dumped by a hamper dumper and then later take another drop at the appropriate separation. Yes, things do happen that shouldn’t but shippers have the responsibility for packing and supplying a crush proof box for the weight. Also, if you are on a delivery route you can request your package be held at the office if it is going to be late when you get it. Rest assured your delivery person has winced before you did when they saw it.
