Alright, well, it's official... I've got lab business to attend to.

Guess that's the life of grad students. But if someone is in Corvallis and can meet up with me friday evening, or on campus, who will be attending, I can pass off a stack of business cards and two small raffle items to be shared at the event! Give me PM and we can figure it out!

I am planning on attending and this is my current list of what I am bringing;
3 SQ Jersey Giant hens (I think some are black and some blue).
some egg laying breed hens
2 or 3 pairs of Silkies
several Silkie roosters
1 purebred cuckoo Marans cockerel
1 white juvenile Bantam Cochin (male/female?)
3 pair of Auburn juvenile turkeys
3 pair of bantam ducks- Silver Appleyard and Australian spotted
some large male ducks- beautiful!
1 white frizzle bantam cochin- SQ but not good for kids
10 or so guineas- juveniles
4-6 young geese
Fertile hatching eggs from Silkie- Cochins- Dark Eggers- more
Possibly one trio of Exhibition Buff Orpingtons- (if someone requests them)

I am looking for peafowl and pheasants and SQ bantam Cochins or Silkies, Sumatras, Phoenix, Penedesencas, Ancona Ducks, and????
and quail.
I also have white couturnix quail to trade for another variety of quail.
We are looking forward to meeting everyone who is able to make it.

I'm sorry you won't be coming! I just got back to the posts here and saw that you had a Welsummer pullet. I was looking at getting one. Maybe next time?

I am still planning on attending with my daughter but not bringing any chickens. I found a home at a sanctuary in Lebanon for my Silkie Rooster and I'm going to keep the Golden Laced Bantam Cochin. I am going to bring some Asian Pears if anyone is interested. You don't need to give me a chicken for them, lol but if you want to, that would be cool

I'm looking for pullets only of any kind really...the more unique the better.

See everyone Saturday!

Man, I wish I could keep silkies here in the apt.... but that's not going to work. LOL

Am this close || to hatching eggs here though, since I do need to give my little silkie girl at home a few friends her size. I mean, they are so tiny and have to be in a brooder for the first two months or so anyways. Heated brooder coop, or inside an apartment... about the same right? I do have an empty 20 gallon tank and 3 empty 30 gallon totes! It would almost be perfect timing to take them home at thanksgiving!

But alas, you all have fun without me. I'll be with my lab and luckily for you all, ZooMummzy has graciously volunteered to be mod for the meet! Or rather, volunteered to bring a small raffle item. :p

Someone remember to post pictures!

Hello everyone.

I found your site from the craigslist ad for the poultry swap happening tomorrow at Timberlinn in Albany. I have 12 Buff Orp hens that just turned 5 months, and would like to bring them to the swap, do you think this is a good idea? They are not show quality, just nice little girls that were raised here by my hens.

They were free ranging until the neighbors cats started eating them, and have been in a large moveable hoop house with their brothers since then. They are fed organic feed and Jersey milk/yogurt. They are healthy as far as I know ( I just read the biosecurity thread

).

Do you think anyone would be interested in them? Or are folks mainly looking for show birds?

deforestfarm,

First off

I hope you stay around and share your knowledge with us here on BYC!!

Second, I might be interested in some of your hens. I don't know if I have much to trade (need a 20+ pound turkey hen?) Would you be willing to sell some?

Some people might be looking for show quality, but there are a large number of us like me that are really not looking for SQ.

I would bring them and leave them in or very near your vehicle. That way if somebody would want to see them they can.

Bil

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I have a large cage that should fit into the back hatch of our SUV, so I think I will bring them down. They would be for sale; I am up to about 80 chickens right now including our broilers, so I think I need to cut down a little bit, lol. I still have all of their mommas, and the two roosters that fathered them, so we will eat the male offspring and send the girls on to new homes.

Oh I am horribly tempted by turkeys...

Broilers and male offspring you say? How old are they and where are you? I wont be able to attend the meet this time around, but I might be interested in one or two alive (for meat) if you are in the corvallis area.

And you know you want turkeys! They are TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
