) is a different legal entity from a livestock sales event... I think. I confess that I am a total newbie, and not familiar with it, except that I keep hearing from people (mostly accompanied by swearing) about all the hoops a small businessperson has to jump through in order to be legal.... so... that's what I wonder about.
 
That's a really good point Cathy, that's another reason why we didn't do this one at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds - they were going to make us carry insurance...
 
Yeah, my biggest fear with an official place is that sellers/event holders might need official certifications and such along with insurance. I'm sure there are rules on selling eggs off property needing egg selling licenses, or selling food needing food handlers/vendor licenses. I don't have a food handlers license myself.

Did a quick googling instead of working. Looks like egg sellers can sell eggs of their own without licences. But selling of any processed foods require that the product be processed in a licensed facility, and selling of nursery stock also requires licenses. I don't think anyone would crack down on us at a park, but an official venue might be way different.

All good points....I will still go and talk to the fairgrounds about their requirements and what suggestions they have for events such as this. It doesn't hurt to ask!

LOL Yep, and this is where all my hatching eggs have come from...I kept hoping that I'd hatch a roo like him, so when I found out he was available, I jumped on it!!

Heard back from the fairgrounds, just need to investigate one more thing at their suggestions but basically, the renters (me) needs to have homeowners or renters insurance. They only need a company name and number for their paperwork. They do not require vendor licenses or anything else. We are free to do whatever we want as long as it's legal lol and poultry sales/auctions/trades is perfectly legal. I will see what the other email says. I also contacted Albany again and we are fine in the parking lot but she suggested renting one of the shelters near a parking lot for our potluck stuff. I'm pursuing that too since having it out in a dusty parking lot with people driving around wasn't very appealing the last time.
