Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Hey gnarley! Talked to my mom yesterday and she had a nine banded dillo in her yard a few days ago. Sadly it was big and old. She said she's going to scour the area to see of she can find any babies. Also have a friend from WAY down da bayou as we say. She thinks you're crazy but she said "Mais, now who'm I ta judge if somebody's got der paddles in da pirogue?!?!?". She said she'd walk her property up to the levee to see what she could find. She's happy to send it how you like if she finds it if you pay for the shipping. So I've got two solid feelers out for your little critter! Who knows, if my mom and she both find one you might wind up with a mating pair!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! My grandmother emailed that to me (now you know where I get it!).

I love all critters, except fleas, ticks, mosquitos, you know... parasites.

Rodents, reptiles, fish, wombats, I love them all.

That's incredible! Thanks! Maybe I should look for a rescue place? If I'm gonna take them from the wild, I'd rather there was a good reason. I want them healthy, but injured or handicapped is fine.

I do not know about shipping. I had a rescued Newfoundland X Great Pyrenees shipped at 8 months old. She weighed 65 lbs, if she had weighed 1 more pound they would not have taken her on the plane! That little trip cost me about $650, for just the dog, one way from Ohio. An armadillo should only weigh a few pounds though, no giant dog kennel needed. Yes, the dog was worth the plane ticket! She is amazing.

I wonder about truckers? I bet one of them speaks my language and can pony express the little buggers! I have seen how they treat animals in kennels on planes, a trucker with a soft spot might be a better option.

So my mom just called a local rescue and basically they won't "rehome" them because they're more likely to be injured in captivity. Usually by neighbors apparantly. They always catch and release. At least the one she spoke to has that policy. They really are everywhere down there so you wouldn't be upsetting the balance of the population if you're worried about that. I'll let you know when theres a youngin on the way though.

I dont know whoever in history said Chickens were dumb but I have some very smart chickens. Have gone outside 3 times today and found them all out of their run having fun in the backyard. Hubby put up some more fencing thinking they were flying over the fence. They were still getting out. Went out the third time and saw one pushing on the lower part of the fencing and getting thru. Very smart chickens. I very happy they all come running when they see me thinking they are getting treats and can get them back in the run. Also the cats were watching out for them and kept the neighborhood cats away from them.. Very funny. My chickens run take up over half the yard but the grass must be greener on the other side! Just got to love chickens

K7 - I was on your website today, and your soaps look great. I was hoping I could order some for the swap? If so, I would love to get 12 celtic knot soaps 2 each in 6 scents. I am planning to keep one set for myself and send the other set of 6 to my mother for her birthday. I would like 2 Baby Sweetheart Roses in a shade of pink; 2 Gardenia in a nice white; 2 Green Tea and Bamboo in a shade of green; 2 Lilac in a shade of light purple; 2 Oatmeal, Milk & Honey in a creamy light yellow; and 2 Vanilla Cream in a creamy off white color. Is that do-able? I know my mother would love these. Thanks.

On another note, here's my newest update of things I am getting/want:

3 mille fleur cochin chicks from K7 Menagerie
Welsummer hen from Cloverleaf Farm
Lavender Muscovy and 2 BCM Pullets from Seabreeze
2 buff cochin chicks from Celiandy
3 welsummer chicks from Lensters (preferably from the younger batch

Looking forward to meeting you all!

So...we had to return the female bunny and we got a male littermate to live with daddy bunny. Things are MUCH better in the hutch, BUT now my son has decided that "Nick" and "Nack" is no good, as "Nack" is a "girl name" apparently...?? So I posted a poll for folks to vote for names for the pair we have now (and new pics)....PLEASE vote - we are going to choose the name at 8pm based on number of votes....
