Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

@OregonBlues - How will I recognize you (to share the shade tent)? I have a purple Ford Ranger, and plan to be there as close to 9:30 as I can manage. Not sure what I'll be wearing, since I plan to dress in layers for the weather.

WallTenters - Should we check in with you when we get there? Are we going to have name tags? I can pick some up if needed. I am going to try my hardest to be there early and help with set-up

We will be at least mostly on the grass.

Yes, I will have a sign up at our canopy "Vendor Information". I would like to get everyone's name, number and town they're from, as well as a summary of what they have with them/have at home. That way if someone says "hey, anyone have Purple chickens?" we can say "yeah, that guy over there breeds them, but just brought eggs"... or whatever

What do you guys think about just vendors having raffle tickets? You would get one when you sign up. I'm just worried about guests having to wait around all day before we do the raffle drawing... and I don't want to be hanging on to stuff and calling people afterwards.

ChickenRonin, if you could bring name tags that would be fantastic - that was on my list of things to get today.

Does anyone have any CLEAN (new) egg cartons? I was thinking that if kids wanted to guess the number of grapes in an egg carton, we could announce the winners at lunch, they could have all the grapes in there. Unfortunately for me that would mean a trip to Redmond today to pick up the cartons, so I am wondering if anyone has like five or six I could just buy off you and bring them tomorrow morning?

Oh, and someone asked me for photos of the blue/blue wheaten Marans X cockerel we have, I can't find the PM but I'll post it here instead....

As you can see he's got wheaten leakage coming in (he gets a little more every day). He's out of a Blue Wheaten Marans cock and a Black Australorp hen. He's a sweetie - a BIG sweetie

Name tags - I'm on it

So the grape guessing game is a really cute idea, but will grapes start to go all wilty in the warm weather? It's better than candy, but unless they're in a cooler...

We are bringing a cooler, but I hope we won't need it. If we do the drawing at lunch time (say 12?) they would only be in the warm weather maybe an hour or two. Hopefully the kids won't mind

If nothing else, they can eat raisins! lol

Instead of grapes or candies (that could melt together) in the egg cartons for kids to guess at, how about the crackers, GoldFish? Small enough to put a good number in and won't go bad in the weather, whichever report we go with

One thing that the Sweet Home Rock Club does is call a raffle every hour... so you could tell folks they have to be there when their number is called, but that we'd call one an hour until all the prizes are gone (or every half hour, if there are lots)... you don't hang on to it, and they get at least a chance to win something at any point in the event. Just a thought...

And certainly, I'd be willing to sell raffle tickets for you at my table, if that's what you'd like - and I'd turn over the money to you when I could get away from the table.
