Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

Any thought on how the potluck will work? It was derailed at the spring swap because it was so large and strung along the parking lot, and none of us could get away from our tables. I'm thinking that if we could put the food at a central (shaded) table, and then at 11:30 or 12, we could each come over and get a plateful, that would work...

Though it would also be nice to sit and chat... which might not get to happen, if we're busy selling.

I really have no idea on the potluck... I'm going to see if Keith can pick me up a few more tables this evening... We will figure it out!

I like the idea of a raffle every hour. And I don't think we need to sell tickets, I think giving them away is fine, that was the plan to begin with. My niece Silver is the dedicated Raffle Gal

If the weather tomorrow is anything like to day, we lucked out. It's perfect.

I've told everyone I speak to about the Swap.

My EZ-up is in my van, as well as the 2 feed sacks I promised. The van is gassed up and ready to go. I've been to the bank to get cash to spend.

CathyM, I am a fat old lady with gray hair. The EZup is white, and I've got a blue plastic high back lawn chair.

I'm baking gluten free tonight. Can't decide whether to make brownies or Choc chip cookies. If anyone must eat gluten free, please see me early at my booth to get your share. That way, you are sure to get some and you won't have to wonder if it is safe to eat, sitting with everything else on the table. Contains dairy butter and eggs. Maybe I should leave out the nuts, in case anyone is allergic to nuts.

I'm not taking any birds. Nobody reserved any and I don't want to take them out and then back in. I'm keeping a closed flock. However, I do not mind baby-sitting birds if anyone is lacking a booth partner. There are 3 of us at my EZ-Up. Some one will be there to keep an eye on the neighbors.

Are we voting? Whatever everyone decides on the raffle tickets is OK with me, but I wouldn't mind if it was members only.

Hurray, it's nearly time. Feels sorta like Christmas Eve.

LOL! My friends joke that I am Meryl Streep's fatter sister! My gray is only at the temples so far.

I've also made a gluten free cake - strawberry (it has Rumsford Baking Powder - is that okay?). I was planning to label it for the potluck, if I don't space it. Something just bloomed in the last two days (or maybe it was just lack of rain) and my IQ is about par with my chickens!

(Actually, some of them are outsmarting me today).

See you tomorrow!!

I had so wanted to come to this swap just to buy this time as everyting I have is too young. Then 2 of my DSIL stopped by and another DSIL is severly ill and they are leaving for Boise and took my DH with them to drive. So I will miss this swap also,

I can only hope the time will be right soon so I will be able to attend one -- please everyone have fun and great conversation for me too.

I am so sorry everyone, but I won't be able to attend! Please pm me if you would like to order soap, either (or both) of the 4-hole nesting boxes, a black bantam cochin hen (super broody, $20), or a black langshan pullet (4 months old, $15). I also have cucumber starts, small $1.00 or large $2.00.

Well, the rest of us will have fun! Finally in for the night, have most everything loaded, just have to get little chicks loaded in the morning and coffee and I think we're good.

Have four packages of hot dogs, I think that will feed a lot of us anyway! I hope everyone brings sides and stuff - I didn't get any chips/dip/etc because I figured that's an easy thing for other folks to bring to a potluck, as long as some sort of center dish is served. I think it's going to be a great day for grilling!

Also, made a small yellow cake with blueberries and a smidgen of cream cheese frosting. Smells delicious. I also made some cupcakes of the same batter and they are oh-so-good, but unfortunately are so fall apart they would be impossible to serve

See you all in the morning!!!

I'm bringing potato chips, as well as a gluten-free cake. I'm packed; the chickens (being left home) are in good shape for the day; I just have to shower, dress, load up on coffee and head over the mountain! See you all soon!
