I ended up with 2 out of 3 roos though, and they were no help with trying to rehome. When I wanted to get more chicks I ended up going to Livingscape Nursery in North Portland. If you look them up on the internet they actually post what breeds they have and when new batches are scheduled to arrive. They have great variety and have regularly scheduled workshops on urban chicken keeping. I ended up getting a Gold Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red, and Barred Plymouth Rock. I am so excited about the GLW - I am 99.9% sure it's a pullet at 4 weeks. The other two are still too young to tell for sure, but i am hopeful since they are feathering out fairly quickly.

Pistils Nursery in NE also carries baby chicks, but they are straight run. I think Foster Feed?in SE also has baby chicks, but I've never been there to check their conditions out. Good luck in your hunt!

I'm new here I live across the river in Vancouver WA I'm setting up my little coop but Tuesday I pick up my three girls; 2 barred rocks and 1 silver-laced Wyandotte hen

I've got a flock of 13 three-year-old hens and still average 9-10 eggs a day, everyday. I have:

1 golden-laced wyandott--Scarrina, a BOP tried to pluck her from the yard her first year by her head but dropped her. She healed up nicely after being scalped, although what feathers did grow back sit a bit crooked.

2 Sicilian buttercups--Gina and Sophia (think Italian movie stars)

1 Welsummer--Wilamina (Willie for short)

3 Barnvelder--Helga, Olga and Ingrid

3 Americaunas--Piper, Paige and Pheobe

3 Speckled Sussex--Jane, Agatha and Anne for my favorite authors

New to BYC. We've been in Oregon since '99 (from AZ). My grandparents had chickens in the backyard of a typical 1960's built Phoenix neighborhood. I have fond memories of their chickens and always wanted to have a coop in my yard. We finally took the plunge and built a coop based on the playhouse coop design, modified a bit.

Thanks for the tips on where to find more chicks. Once the rooster finds a new home, my pullet will likely be lonely in there by herself.
