I purchased 2 pullets from Dennis 2 weeks ago. One is a black cochin banty (3 months) and the other a golden laced wyandotte (6 weeks). They seem very healthy. I've been keeping them separate from our other two hens. The cochin is mothering the baby. Here you can see her literally taking the baby under her wing. They are so sweet together!

is there a place in Pdx to buy DE?

Coastal said no, Drake's 7 dees is non food grade as is wilco's but the lady at wilco never checked.

I would maybe try Whole Foods Market or Trader Joes.. I'm not to sure if they would carry it. Worth a shot though.

You can get food grade DE at the Eagle Creek Feed store on 224.

Well I got my Ameraucana from Dennis today a picture of her is on my page she is a cutie and my two older Barred Rocks squawked at her for a few minutes but no pecking or fighting so far the actualy went into the coop and sat down near her so intagrating her went 100% better than I expected!

Thanks for posting about Pistills' pullet day! I have been looking for just one more to join the other girls.


ETA - The food grade DE I am looking at is $5.19 for 5lbs (from Azure Standard). Larger bags are less per ounce, but after reading the warning about not breathing it I'd rather not divvy up a big bag after all. Anyway, if you want a 5lb bag, PM me by Tuesday morning and I will add it to my order.
