Oregon

Hello from Portland, OR!

Currently, our brood consists of:
1 Buff Orphington
1 Rhode Island Red
1 New Hampshire Red
1 Plymouth Rock
1 Golden Comet
9 assorted juveniles (The hens like playing mommy)

That may be 9 more than the permitted 5. Let's just keep that on the DL.

I'm glad to be joining the forum and this thread!

HELLO, MY OREGON PEEPS!
I'm in Salem (held here against my will, lol) Help! J/K!
I am interested in VeRy rare breeds and heritage breeds and eventually hoping to benefit a few of the breed lines by becoming a steward of some of these rare breeds. Possibly creating my own?
been doin the chicken thing for two yrs now and lovin it! So addicting! I'm only supposed to have six hens where I live but who's counting...chicken math has definitely set in...who knew it was a thing!
Anywho...VeRy glad to be here!

Hi there! Glad to find other Oregonians!
I'm new to Portland area & also to chickens. Just got my first 3 girls in April
Pele - my RIR who is just a snuggle bunny
Kiwa- Ameraucana who keeps us guessing on whether she's a hen or roo
And Tango Tango - Barred Rock the fearless adventurer

How is everyone coping with the heat?
I've been coming home during lunch to check up on the girls, pop another frozen water bottle into their water, & throw frozen treats - watermelon, cantaloupe, fennel.
I heard Rose petals are also very hydrating so I've been tossing those in as well. They gobble those up!

SE PDX here, just about to start my second flock!
1 Lavender Orpington
1 Blue Orpington
1 Jersey Giant
all from MPC.

Welcome to the Oregon thread! Always nice to " meet " new neighbors.

Hello! I'm in Gaston (south of Henry Hagg Lake)

Currently brooding some guineas
and turkeys. Will be getting some laying hens come springtime if and when we get a coop built!

Welcome to Polarberry & jwebb418!

Has anyone experienced an eclipse with their chickens before? I wonder how my girls will take it -- if it will freak them out. I'm in Aloha so in the 99% area for the eclipse on Monday.
