Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a new home for a young rooster. He's been listed on craigslist, a homeschool list, a freecycle type list and put a note on a board at the feed store but no takers so far and I need him placed soon as he's crowing a lot and we arent allowed roosters in the city and I dont want to loose my chicken permit. thanks for any ideas, I am in Albany. -Lisa

I've had great luck listing free roosters on CL ... I know you've tried this, but check to make sure the posting worked and try again. I've had issues with some of my CL posts in the past, and reposting to a different account did the trick. Not sure why.

From my experience CL is a good place to "rehome" free roosters ... lots of takers in the Portland area.

How old?  I need more feather footed like a hole in the head but, DD's OEGB is sitting on duds.  She is not giving up so I may need to give her a couple so she is done by fair.

. I have fertile silkie eggs and oegb eggs. I have never shipped them before. I am by Salem and if you can get them I will give them to you.

Anyone raise heritage turkeys here in Oregon? I just ordered some Red Bourbon, Penciled and Red Penciled Palm. I did order hatching eggs but there's only one that seemed fertile, so I bought these poults. Kind of excited about having these huge birds free ranging among my chickens. I made sure to get the NPIP certification with them. I have about two acres of grass for them to free range in, all fenced from (some) predators. Do turkeys keep raccoons away?

Congrats on your poults. No, raccoons will eat turkeys just like anything else. Toms may be successful in fighting them off better, but the can still be injured in the process.
