Any Oregon breeders that will have some Orpington eggs or chicks available in the near future. Just putting my feelers out there and trying to get some info so when I ready I will already know who to get them from. I'm looking for Lavender, Blue, Black, or Splash. If you have some that might be available please let me know what you have or might be having soon. Please send me a message or post here. :)

Thanks
Brenna

Check the Portland area Craig's List. There is a breeder of BBS Orps on there. Hers are 50% English HinkJc lines and 50% American. I had a cock from her, Splash. He was huge. Weighed 13lbs at 10mo. Had to rehome him to a larger bird flock as my hatchery girls were half his weight. She may also have Lav's. she had some last year. She is located in Sandy, Or. Very nice lady.

I also have all of those colors.  And then some!  The only chicks I have now are under my broody still in eggs!  :)  NPIP.  I sometimes have eggs as well, and I can ship.

Someday I'm going to have to look you up for a splash and a blue. Right now I think my hatchery birds are about to let me down. But only in egg color. And it's no surprise. My cuckoo marans who looks like she's just a black buzzard. I'm pretty sure she laid her first egg yesterday. And it was as pale brown as you can get without being white. :( it was either her or my Easter egger. Either of which would be sad. Oh well they're pets we love them.

Last I heard there were about 70 fires going in Southern Oregon.

It's apparently so bad that they've even called out my dad. Who worked for the forestry running fire camps to feed and house fire fighters, for most of my childhood. Now he works for the DOC. But it's so bad they need all the help they can get! Stay safe down there everyone!!

Be patient Karen! The eggs will change as they mature.

I sure wish there was something for us to do for the folks down south. Terrible.

I'm loving having my girls. You know it's hard to be patient. :) but I can see now how adding heritage birds in as I grow or replace the flock will be such a fun way to go. I didn't even think I'd get eggs at all until next month so all these eggs are so exciting!

And I used to get so mad at the forest fires when I was a kid. My dad was always "out on a fire" on my birthday. I missed him all summer and fall. He hasn't been called out in years. So it's got to be BAD.
