Oregon

No!! Where the heck is the snow this year? We had one morning where there were a few flakes falling, back in December. Nothing since.

I'm originally from sunny parts of California, so the few days when it snowed in Eugene in the last decade I lived there were so much fun.

I was over-the-moon last year, living in Oakridge -- so much snow then!

This year - meh. Nothing. Weather reports say "maybe" next week.
Funny, we moved here from NY. Boy were we surprised at the snow last winter! Thought we left that behind us! :barnie

I'll take the Oregon rain anyday! Chooks don't mind either since the worms come up more.

I was glad for the little flurry on Christmas though.

It's not like there's so much you have to shovel it though! (usually)

Apparently, there's all these *rules* for shoveling snow, and those of us in the Oregon Valley have no clue about them! On the first snow in Eugene, my transplanted Colorado neighbors were outside, instantly shoveling their entire sidewalk in front of their house, plus doing the elderly widow's sidewalk. They informed me, "It's just what you do."

Ummm, no. 1/4 inch is on the ground, the schools close, we call in sick to work, drink hot cocoa and schnapps, and stay off the roads!

Rain is another story -- nothing gets cancelled for rain. Ever.

Mmmm hot cocoa... mmmm schnapps... :drool
Yeah I haven't had a snow day like that since 4th grade! :yesss: Love that everything shut down.
I did feel bad for small business owners & hourly workers though.

The thing I noticed is, even if it rains every day, it usually doesn't rain ALL day. A drizzle here, a downpour there, and then the sun's back out by sunset.

7 acres!!! Lucky! Looks like you've got room for chicken math to take over!
x2
@Cluck 'n Quack Let's see.. according to chicken math, 7 acres divided by 13 chooks = waaaay to much land per chicken. Either your kids are spoilt or you've gotta get more chicks to fill up that space! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

Hi everyone, Urban Farm Store in Portland is closing.

I'm really sad since the owners' book "A Chicken in Every Yard" really helped me prepare for my first chickens, & I got my girls as chicks there last year. :hit

Anyhoo they are having a big sale until the close at the end of Feb. Feed, supplies, decorations. In case anyone needs to stock up on anything

Hi!
I am new on the site and live in Oregon City! We have a little under an acre but wish we had more. We have 8 now, but just found out we are zoned Rural-Residential-Farm and Forestry (so no limit on chickens because we are technically outside city limits)... My chicken math may get out of control this spring! :love
