Oregon

Hello! I'm in Mulino. A few miles south of Oregon city. I've been on here recently because we built and incubator and I've been checking out helpful info...

The eggs are at day 17 now!

Right now we have 17 hens and two roosters . We've had chickens for about 13 years.

Anyone know of local true Ameraucana hatching eggs?

Holy moley they're adorable!!
Especially with that dark nose. Double dang it!!
I'll have to show these pix to my honey & convince with cuteness overload. Any more ammo is appreciated :highfive:
Here is the smaller, slimmer, twin in my avatar, sitting with the cat. She's a nice bun, and has easily bonded with other buns (her first mate, a 10 year old geezer, died peacefully at her side.). Sometimes, you don't get so lucky, and bonding can be deadly.

Rabbits are litter box trainable, but I do recommend you get them fixed as it makes training easier (even if you have all females, like we do). Fixing them can be REALLY expensive, though there is a place in Salem, on State Street, I think, that will accept proof of low income (like OR Trail card), and will fix them for $50. Otherwise prices in Eugene were $350-450!!! Zoinks! Getting a bun from a Rescue organization is worth it, as they will be altered already.

It was cheaper to get a vasectomy for my Sweetie, than it was to get the rabbit fixed!!!

Hello Melbah,
You're going to have a LOT of chickens very soon! Very exciting.

I don't know anyone doing true Ameraucanas. Around me, at the feed stores, they get them all mixed up, and are calling Easter Egger chicks : Aracaunas (sp?), and mixing up the Black Copper Marans with Jersey Giants. (yeah, big difference, I know!) Ebay or Craigslist, I guess? Good luck!

Hi, melba, welcome!
Are you active on facebook? There as I group I can suggest to network and find breeders for true ameraucana. It's associated with the folks doing the big swap in April down in Corvallis

Ooh I'd be up for an Ameraucana swap in Corvalis! I think they're the cutest.
Although I'm also very happy with my nonstandard EE.

I know there's a reputable breeder in Washington state. I think you can get their comtact on the Ameraucana breeders association.

They are found under Oregon Poultry Swap Inc..... there is a group for the events themselves and another that is more of a chat group. You can post an in search of ad and vendors can resound if they have what you want. ...that way you aren't just able to make connections are the time of each event. The vendor list gives name, contact info and breeds each one works with.
