I love all these new Oregonians on our thread!!
Welcome everyone!!
I haven't seen weasels but I know there are minks in our area in Beaverton. @Ol Grey Mare gave some good advice... hard ware cloth, covered run. Depends on your priorities & comfort level.
I free range mine during the day and then lock them tight at night. But I know they are pretty savvy & have figured out some good hiding places.
What part of Portland are you in? Most people I know who have chickens in the city are in NE. What's your flock like?
Good question! I only know of 1 person in Portland who has a turkey. Just one tom. He freaked me out the first time I met him because he kept following me around with his wing dragging & I had no idea what he was doing -- if this was a sign of aggression or what! Turns out he was just trying to show me how sexy he was
So do you think it's finally spring?
Hi everyone, I'm here in Portland, Oregon.
Hi Ol.....Hello and welcome! Always nice to meet a new "neighbor"

I’m located in Eugene area.
Would any one be interested. They are free.
Here is the coop. The fencing goes a foot underground, 18 inches out and backfilled with rocks and soil of course. The corrugated roof is in the second, above my son's gorgeous flower garden project.Could you post a pic of or link to the fencing?
What a beautiful Oregon pre-spring day it was! I took my chickies outside and they wanted nothing to do with stepping out of the box and onto the grass, and they weren't having it. So I filled up their box with fresh grass and they still enjoyed the sunCh...ch....ch....changes...... Sold a hen and my 3 extra chicks today, already jonsing for new chicks… good thing the two new babies I will be raising for my sister come in about a week....
Spent the whole weekend with the windows open, loving this weather!
