Hey Oregon friends!
I've got a dilema and I'm wondering if anyone in the Roseburg area could possibly take a beautiful 17 wk GLW pullet off my hands?

She does not get along with the other very docile birds in my flock. Okay, she's a little aggressive. She picks the feathers on my Light Brahmas feet and will not stop. She is also very bossy with the others. I am in the city and I just can't seperate her from the others and I also can't have a rooster which I've heard might help.

I'm not a chicken eater so that isn't really an option. Truth be told, I would love for her to be adopted by a lovely farmer who will let her live out her years laying eggs and free ranging till she dies of old age. My 8 year old, who has raised the chicken from its first day, shares this fantasy as well.

We know this will not be an easy undertaking. Is there anybody at all out there who might be interested in this kind of proposition? Any suggestions?

She is a very beautiful bird. Appeciate any and all advice.

How is she with you and your daughter? My hens all think I am the rooster in the flock. Well that or some big scary thing that wants to eat them as my whimpy roo acts like.

Well Roseburg is a little far south of me but if you can't find anyone closer and want to make a day trip and I don't admit it to my BF I could probably give her a home. She just has to mysteriously *show up* (

where did that chicken come from again?) I am completely free-range at the moment. A coop is in the works though. Until then they bunk in the hay feeder in the barn or in a enclosed stall. Who knows maybe there is someone closer that is willing to give her a home. I know we have some members from down that way.

Hi, Rubysmom. I'm in Roseburg too, but I'm sorry, I can't help. My girls are 18 weeks old today, but I just don't have room for another. I hope you can find her a good home. You might ask at DC Co-op if they know of anybody.

Thanks so much ORchick and WrenAli. Problem solved. They are off to a sweet little ranch in Yoncalla. Thanks for your help.

Claudia

I think we need an Oregon chicken club

Rubysmom,

I'm so sad. You had emailed me about taking your two pullets and I didn't see it until just now. I emailed you just now that I'd love to take them and now I see you saying they are going to Yoncalla. Boo-hoo. If that plan does not work out for some reason I will take them for sure.

hello everyone!!! i'm in lebanon. i have some ee, a weslummer, and some mutts. i bought 4 batches of eggs to hatch and haven't gotten anything yet.
do any of you buy or sell at woodburn auction?
we have sold there and gotten good money but i want different breeds now. i'm afraid to buy chicks at the auction and bring home a disease. maybe we can trade locally??
