Well i finally got moved all the way. Birds are settling into there new home well. Still have lots of plans for additional pens, etc. My internet and cell phone transition has been a real headache. So far home phone and internet is not working. I have very hit and miss cell service. I am using my new tablet to try to keep up on internet but it is hit and miss also. Am in okc today and it works good here. Just not so good in western okla. When things get calmed down and settled in better i will take some pictures of my new setup and some updated shots of fowl.

Black skin ,multiple spurs,longtail.?
I'm working on black skin chickens as well .

A friend of mine in Maryland will be importing a number of breeds into the US this Spring, including Satsumadori (or however it's spelt, heck I can't even spell English words half the time nevertheless Japanese).

I do believe that Toni-Marie imported some this past year.

A number of us have worked on re-creating the breed in the past. I believe you are going to stumble the same places we all did.

The Sats body type is very Asil looking. The tail goes up and then falls. Your goes up slightly and then out; that's about the best we all did; though I had some that were twice to three times as full as yours. It is a very different tail that the Sats has. I'm not sure it can be reproduced with our current gene pool.

Now that I working on this project I thought about those birds what a shame my friend got rid of all of them .
Main reason for him to cull them all was that those birds ate to much.
Cornish if you notice they have a decent fan tail .
That will be my last source for a fan tail since I don't want to add a bird lacking on gameness and speed.
Cornish are kind slow

Cornish should not have a fan tail and you are correct they are not fast by any means. Here is a picture of one of my male Cornish. His tail should be straight out, but this guy is holding it down in the pic.

Even if your friends' bird had the more correct tail it really doesn't mean anything so don't worry too much. In an F1 anything can happen; getting that bird (the f1) to reproduce it is the trick and it just doesn't happen that often.

If I was doing the sats. project I'd use the following:

A Cubalaya, China Game, and Asil

You might throw in a Shamo but I don't think it would be necessary.

Yes he is a Sumatra x shamo he is going back to a nice black Sumatra grade hen

Large Cornish the ones that are around10lbs does have fantail.
Check the featherzite Cornish page they have some good pictures there.
I think you are mentioning the bantams tails ?
