Like Walt said, even the female Asils will sometimes fight like cocks, even if they are broodmates. They always fight when you aren`t there to stop it.
A classic story about this is from my days in South FL. The president of the SFPFA (South FL Poultry Fanciers Assn.) took a fancy to my Asils. I gave her a stag and 2 pullets. She managed to raise them OK, but had a little problem when she bred them. The chicks were about 3 weeks old. She went to town for some arands and returned in just under 2 hours. The chicks had started a battle royal in her absence. Two had broken necks, one broken wing, one broken leg, and 3 strawbwerry heads. One strawberry head she culled. Out of six chicks, she managed to raise 2. Kinda makes you think they could be hard to raise.
Another incident with the same lady. She, being the president of the SFPFA, decided to take a couple Asils to the show at the South FL Fair, which is promoted and staffed by club members. Just to show the ignorance of some people concerning Asils, she was told by the poultry judge that her Asils were too small. These were Reza type Rampuri Asils. The stag was about 5 lbs. Just about right in my book. Go figure........Pop
