That’s a good point!!! Cardinals and chickadees are some of my favorites. And the birds of prey. We have a lot of ospreys here and some bald eagles. I love seeing the eagles because when I was little there used to be no eagles around and they’ve made a huge comeback. same with the great white sharks here but we’re talking about birds not sharks LOL but I just love seeing nature make a comeback is all and I love seeing the cardinals because they’re gorgeous and it also reminds me of my family that has passed away since they all loved nature too. So yeah.

Cardinals are beautiful. I haven’t seen one since I left the US last time.

They really are! Do they not have them there at all? Or you just haven’t seen one? Oddly enough I’ve mostly seen males

I think Northern Cardinals occupy mostly the east side of the US and Canada. They aren’t in Europe.

I’ve seen quite a few more corvids here, though. There are jackdaws and magpies and hooded crows everywhere. I haven’t seen one yet but Eurasian jays are also common.

Thanks!!! And I might try those apps. I know someone that uses Merlin and the sound ID on it. Although I feel like we just have basic birds here hahah

You'd be really surprised, especially during migration. Sooo many beautiful birds! You just need to look in the right places. Learn bird behavior on the side, it's a big help with both identification, and finding birds in the first place

I'm going to Iceland this week (about to catch the plane now!) and will hopefully get to see some cool birds. Unfortunately the puffins are already supposed to have migrated but I will try to get pictures of anything else I see.
