I was just wondering how old your Orpingtons where when layed thier first egg ? Also when your Orpington roos really started crowing? I know they are a slow to mature but thought I would ask anyway!
    Thanks!!

My two Buffs laid at 22 and 23 weeks, respectively. My two Blues laid at 23 weeks and 25 weeks respectively. I don't remember exactly when Suede started crowing, but I'm thinking it was maybe around 12 or 13 weeks old or so.

Cyn you are lucky on the crowing!! I love the sound of a roosters crow. I have 13 roosters and hear MAYBE 3 crows a day [IMG] .And they are not from my BO roos they don`t hardly crow at all (maybe I will hear 1 once a week). My orps are 19 weeks old.

Suede is a crowing fiend in the mornings! He crows maybe 15 times from every 3-4 of Hawkeye's. We have all sorts of roosters around us, though, and he just can't help himself.
