Orpingtons of Different Standards

This threads OP seems to be the only one wanting to make them a new breed. Maybe I am wrong. But who else here wants them as a new breed?

when I asked the difference when I first started with orps, a well known orp breeder told me that the judges have told her they are to fluffy, whether or not that is a sticking point for the judges I dont know, but tail angle and length of leg are different in the SOP's, a lot of fluff can hide a shorter leg. I happen to like the shorter fluffier orps

Out of 100 points, the eyes are worth 4 points; 2 for shape and 2 for color. That said, I see no surprise that a light eyed bird could win.

I do when you have nicer Blacks without a lite eye that could win. Just ask Paul Homer what he thinks of that choice!

I don't believe Kathy was saying anything specific about that particular placement; she was illustrating how is is quite possible for a bird with too light eyes to rate higher than one with proper eye colour. Were there better birds? Maybe--I've certainly seen my share of birds that did not place as I felt they should. Even at double shows it is common for birds to place differently with the different sets of judges.
