Hey everyone! I am trying to find someone close to the Hickory area of NC who is interested in purchasing 10 Orpington chickens. I have one lavender rooster, one blue rooster and one mottled rooster; plus 7 mottled hens that need to go. We experienced a tornado in our area, which launched the fencing that I had this group living in, into a cow pasture behind us. We managed to pull the fencing back and gather all the chickens back up and into the pen. Unfortunately the pen is in bad shape and these guys need a more secure place to live I placed them on Craigslist but no one in there understands there is a difference between a RIR and an Orpington. The group is all close in age, i would say about 5-6 months old. I paid between $15-$25 per bird when they were chicks, unsexed, so no clue what i was getting. I do not have enough crates to transport them, so the purchaser will need to come to me. The grey rooster is probably about 10 lbs and each hen and the rest of the roosters are just. Little smaller than he is. I am not wanting to separate them because they have grown up together and all get along, even the roosters.

I have a lot invested in them but I am not asking for that amount back. I have priced each bird at $10/piece after consulting with some Orpington breeders. I was actually told to put higher prices but i feel comfortable at $10/bird.

Please pass this to anyone you know who might be interested in adding some orpingtons who are close to laying into their flock!

Thank you!

Sorry for the tornado, glad you and they are all ok!

Beautiful birds, hope you can find them a new home, asap... just fyi, though, your mottled group is 5 pullets and 3 cockerels...

I was told by an Orpington breeder I consulted before putting them on here that they are hens with very pronounced combs, and are older than the rest, since i thought the same thing. There is one who looks like this rooster in this photo from an UK breeder and the rest all look like the hen in it.

Pronounced combs and wattles happen, yes... but all 3 of those have saddle feathers... those are definitely cockerels...
