OSB Coop Roofing Mistake

If I may- what is the ideal shingle overhang (with & without drip edge)? I haven't removed the tarp yet to find out how water is flowing off- I'm afraid to! LOL
With drip edge - right to the edge slightly beyond 1/8” any more than that, if you lay a ladder up it breaks the edge or just bends it.
Most of the water drips off the lowest part of the metal drip edge.
When I do a roof ( when not using ice and water) using tar paper, I put on my drip edge (butts into rake bd usually) tar it , put first row of paper on and continue up the roof ,cut paper flush to rake, install drip up rake and roof.
Or old school would be no drip up the rake just use a piece of roofing ( same as a starter course) up the edge of each side but this you would overhang say 1/2” or so.

Without - probably what you did. Or prior to metal drip edge, wood shingles.
