Other methods ?

Yeah, I will. My husband wants to know why I can't use heat lamp and bowl of water. Told him I'd ask, so I'm asking.
You could, many have rigged all kinds of things to incubate, but it would be tricky and success would be a crapshoot.

Does the incubator have any vents you can open?

I watched a friend hatch eggs in a styrofoam cooler with a heating pad, a towel and a sponge after a predator got the mama. Anything is possible.

In either case a thermometer and hygrometer that you've calibrated is a good idea. I learned that the hard way.

No vents, they only thing with control is the temperature.

I told him I would have the same problem, controling the humidity.
If you rigged something up you must get a thermostat to control the temperature.
Humidity is easy compares to humidity but again...
You don't know if your numbers are correct unless you have known/tested/calibrated thermometers and humidity gauge.
