Our chickens & ducks thrive in the winter in the Idaho Mountains!

People ask if chickens and ducks can tolerate the winter weather and ours have been fine with a simple light bulb, shelter, and water all the time. We use heated buckets for water to stay thawed out.

Yes, we leave the light so they get a full 12 hours of daylight. Seems to help with keeping up the egg laying.
