Our chicky chick just died a most gross death and I need to know what

snake or spider bite? the liquified comment is what makes me think this, because that is what the venom helps do is breakdown the muscles and tissue for the preditor to digest easier.

We do have black widows on the property.

Very good idea, goes along with rat poision! She was too young to have prolapse. So something she ate or that bit her was causing this in her stomach. Weird.

It is horrible and I feel for you, too. But, the cause of that is something we all want to know. If you have time, try writing to the magazine Backyard Poultry . I have read in there that they are interested in individual stories and someone on their staff might be able to tell you. OHio State University at their Wooster Agrigulture schoolh has a poultry expert...Dr. Mo Saif...he might be interested and I'm sure he would talk to you. Or, as I alway say...contact Peter Brown, the Chicken Doctor, at www.firststatevetsupply.com. Or your state agriculture department might help you. The leaking of fluid back out would, I would think, just be a result of the crop being full or convulsing...we had a pullet do that once..but Lord knows about the other thing. Sounds like some sort of acid...nasty....and how horrible, for you. God bless.

That sounds awful, I am so sorry. What a sad thing and how strange. I hope that you find out what caused it and again, I am sorry about this. Poor little chicky and poor chicky family
