Woke up to an already dry and fluffy D'uccle baby this morning!!!!
My humidity was down to 50% though - so I rewetted the sponges.
Got one more d'uccle pip and three of the silkie eggs are pipped!!!!!!
Go Silkies!
The one that is out is one of the cleanest hatches I have ever seen, I am worried about the silkies a smidge because my humidity dropped and on two of them the membrane looks white and *papery*
Wow, pbjmaker! Congrats! Mine are still just rocking. I think since I've been running my temp at 99 most of the time it will take another day or two for mine to start popping out. I hope I have the humidity right.
These guys are on day 20 though. My ones on day 19 are still just rocking when they aren't a rollin' from the chick running into them. S/he has managed to rearrange my whole hatcher. I had all the eggs due the 7th on one side of the hatcher and the ones due the 6th on the other side. They are all intermingled now. The thing is I was hoping the chicks would roll the 2 eggs that are due next week a little bit so that I wouldn't have to worry about turning them. Those are the ONLY two eggs still in their original position.
I took the lil' bubby out since it had poo'd twice already and was trying to eat the sponges.
ETA: 4/5 silkies pipped
2/2 Millies pipped + the one that hatched
1/11 Frizzle Cochins pipped (these are the ones on day 19)
Congrats PB! I sure hope mine wait until I'm off work to hatch! I work from 3-11 tonight and tomorrow I work 9am to 11pm so I'm praying I don't miss anything but I most likely will
I took day 21 off but maybe I should have taken day 20 off
you just never know when the things will hatch! My tiny one is still little but it did grow a little more. AND still moving around
Still rocking for me too. My humidity was still a little low so I lightly sprayed the bottom with warm water and I think it broke my thermometer lol!! My temp hasnt changed one bit this whole time so I am not worried about that, I need to put a new humidity gauge in there though...dARNIT

Me neither, Skeeter. I'm trying to be patient since "technically" I'm smack dab in the middle of day 18 right now. I stopped turning yesterday morning since I wouldn't be home again until late. I added another plate of water with a sponge, but am now having a hard time keeping temp high enough. I turned it up a bit this morning.
Please let them all hatch safely - for everyone!
PBJ - hilarious about the chick playing bumber cars!
Ok second millie is hatched - took them both and put them in the brooder because I needed to turn the two eggs. The fluffy one is strutting her stuff while the other one is just gathering strength still. The four silkies are still looking good and peeping up a storm. I bet that last millie still makes it out before them though. It seems that they pip and then go to town hatching while the silkies like to take a long breather after they make that first hole.
I am going to test different methods of sexing them later today and see if there is a way that works best or accurately at all...
