Our First Chicken Coop!

After a lot of hard work, our first chicken coop is complete! Our eight hens moved into their new digs last week and they are HAPPY!

Thank you so much! The coop floor totals 27 sq.ft. at 4'x6' plus 3 exterior nesting boxes. It's almost 6' tall with plenty of roosting space inside! The run is 120 sq.ft.

About 95% of materials were purchased new (including lumber, hardware, fencing, roofing, paint, etc.) I'd say the total for the coop and run was about $900. We spent an additional $200 on the automatic door opener because we vacation often and don't want to rely on a full-time chicken-sitter!
