WOO-HOOO!!!! Finally heard a commotion and a lot of loud squawking today that WASN'T the rooster! It was our WL, Rosie.

BWACK BWACK BWACK BAGAWK!!!

So, I go over to see what's up, and the Leghorn is going crazy. I let them out to range, and go in to fill up the feeder. There, in the corner, she had dug a little hole a laid a beautiful little white egg. But, it wasn't alone. There was another little light white egg in there, too. The lightest one was still warm!

Thing is, I was in the coop yesterday at 4:00 and there were NO eggs in there. I am sure of it. Heaven knows I have been looking.

She is our only white egg layer. All our girls are 19 weeks old as of yesterday.

So, no eggs in there at 4 yesterday. This morning at 10:30, there were two white eggs, one cold one warm. Could she possibly have laid two in that amount of time? Seems impossible. Maybe she laid one yesterday and it got covered with pine shavings and then she uncovered it? Maybe one of the australorps magically laid a white egg?

I'll post pics when dear husband comes home with the memory card from his computer.

Okay, there was more commotion in the coop, went back in there and found two more warm BROWN eggs!!!!

4 eggs on our first day!

Now I am starting to panic, as they all seem to be laying them on the coop floor and NOT in the nest box...

The same thing happened to me a few days ago. I found 2 brown eggs in one spot. I also have a new chicken, which I was almost sure was a Black Australorp, and have since been finding white eggs in the coop. Hmm??

WOOO HOOO FOR YOU!!! I'm still waiting- waiting - waiting- post photos- we want to seeeeee:)

My white Silkie laid her first egg yesterday - I found it behind the henhouse door as I was leaving. It was as large as the ones my massive Light Brahmas lay - cream colored and very tasty, as I ate it for supper. I think she is about 18 or 19 weeks old.

Ok! Here are the pictures! I'm so proud! The eggs are small, but a good size for firsties. They are perfectly shaped and the shells are REALLY hard. YAY!

They are all different colors, but you can't tell in these pics. One of the brown ones has pretty little speckles on it.

This is the very first eggs we found. Layed by Ms. Rosie the White Leghorn.

Here is our smallest brown egg from today beside a "large white" egg that I just bought at the grocery store because I was sure that my chickens were never going to start laying eggs.
