The reason for all of this work! These little cuties...if they could get one more on this branch, they would be sitting on the ground...

Yes, it will be their free range pen! I finally measured the size yesterday, it's 110'x48'! They needed a safe place to range, so the dogs that pack around here can't kill them! I think it's big enough that it will be a great space for them! I won't let them use it until they are full grown and laying, I want them to lay in the coop and not under any tree's, so hopefully this will help encourage that behavior...lol! We are also trying to eradicate the Blackberry vines that my husband introduced to this part of our yard many years ago...they were very hard to manage and we have finally been forced to deal with them! We will also be planting grass in here and want to give it a good chance to become established before we let those little scratchers have free range!Oh ma ga! So cute!... Is the new fence a yard for the guys and gals?
I think that’ll be a great space! Mine have completely devoured any grass that was in their yard... I wish they wouldn’t do that cuz I think there isn’t a more pleasing sight than chickens on green grass! Oh, and horses in a pastureYes, it will be their free range pen! We have sand, rocks, sagebrush, tumbleweeds and weeds too, but we can grow grass if we throw enough water on it!Pretty pictures! We never get green grass like that here in my part of Wyoming. We're high desert so we have tumbleweeds, cactus and weeds.
Good morning! Today is not the best day! As you all know we are also raising rabbits and we have some in our rabbit tractor! I'm so mad! My husband saw a Rottweiler in our yard yesterday morning, so he chased him off! Well he was back this morning and this is what I found! He dug out under our rabbit tractor. Thank goodness all of the rabbits didn't escape or we'd have a real problem on our hands. I found one dead and one is missing! I have a trap that I can set out with pellets in it, but I don't know if we will be able to catch it, there's a lot of green stuff for it to eat around here! This is why we can't let our chickens free range!
