Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Pics
The temp is supposed to hit 108 here tomorrow! It was 102 today, my poor chickens and rabbits are cooking! The rabbits at least have more ventilation in their cages! My husband and I decided to set up some extra ventilation for the chickens. They have their wings spread out and they are all panting! I threw some corn and water into some silicone containers and placed them in the freezer...I've heard that chickens like it in the hot weather, so hopefully they will like it and it will help them to cool off! We will be adding screen windows later on with shutters that you can close. We just don't have time right now! So, here's my flock in jail.... :gig

It's really quite secure, just looks farmered together, because well it is, but it's secure...:lau

I didn't realize you got such hot weather in WA. Hope it cools down for both you and the animals soon.

Wow, warm weather! I saw a post on here where someone took a kid swimming pool and cut the sides down then filled it with water for her chickens to stand in. Might be worth a try if you have something lying around that you can use! You always feel so bad for them when it gets hot :hmm

We usually have a week or two of really hot weather, sometimes more, sometimes less. It's much warmer here in Eastern WA than it is in W WA over on the coast! Last summer was much cooler, but a few years before that was long & hot. It should be dropping into the 90's by the weekend, so that will be better, still hot...but better! Our climate is pretty moderate with a few extremes thrown in here and there! 😊
