Our Mixed Flock Journey!

I wish I could add a couple of Campine's to my flock, they sound so amazing! I really would have loved to have seen that! :gig
I think they are pretty amazing. They are both rare & endangered so I am super thrilled to have both Silver & Goldens in my flock.

Good morning all! I went out and checked on my girl this morning and I could see that she pooped plenty over night. I did an abdomen check and it all felt good and her crop was empty! I took her out to the feeders to give her a chance to eat without the roosters bothering her, it's like running a gauntlet every morning for my poor hens! She still seems to have a good appetite! I'm starting to think that she is going through a pre-broody stage @Ribh . I will continue to keep a close eye on her!

I also checked on my kits and they were all alive, although some didn't have very full tummy's! I ordered formula, but it won't be here until tomorrow, hopefully they will all be okay until then! I was not prepared for 13 kits! Sometimes I hate living out in the country...only sometimes! :)

Yesterdays eggs, 10 more! :)

Glad to hear your girl is doing better Rene!

Yep. We have a similar problem. Need something? It's never a 5 minute run to the shops. Any trip to the mainland is likely to turn into an all day affair. :( Ugh. There are things I'd rather be doing.

If she's eating well, pooping well, & emptying her crop there's probably not much wrong with her. :) She may just be avoiding your roosters. :) I have one nut job who's always in the coop. She likes scratching through the mulch for bugs. No accounting for taste.

As an Aussie I have a lot of trouble getting past the * rabbits are vermin* mentality. In my state you're not even allowed to keep them; not as a desexed pet, not as part of a petting farm, not for food, just no!
