Our Mixed Flock Journey!

I went out this morning & checked on the kits, 10 of them had pretty full tummies, which I was very happy about. The other 3 looked like they managed to get some milk, but their tummies were a little wrinkly, so I tried to give them some more formula, I managed to get a little into them.
I know you are not home currently, but maybe you can forward directions to caretakers .
This is just a thought, and I'm not an expert by any means.
This is what I would try. I have tried this method with my baby pigeons to some success.
Remove the 10 or so littles, from the mamas teets, and place the 3 hungry ones into position. Often times the weaker ones are not able to get to the food, and it is a downward spiral at that point.
I'm not sure how many teets a rabbit has, :idunno but I don't think its even 10

With my pigeons, when I seen one getting less crop milk than the other, I could see the larger growing like a BANDIT, while the other seemed to stall in growth.

I also know about natural selection theories, but you are trying to have as many of these babies survive, since you are willing to supplement their food. (formula)

Thank you so much Cavey...you are always so thoughtful and have such great ideas! 💞
I never see her nurse the babies, they only nurse them once or twice a day usually late at night or early morning. I did hold her on my lap and we put the babies that were underfed on her teats, she was pretty angry with me, she growled & tried to bite me after she was back in her cage, I let her know gently that wasn't acceptable, so I don't want anyone else trying to do it, because she might bite & scratch them. If any aren't doing well on the formula when I get back home, I will hold her again! She has calmed down a little bit since the first time, but I'm sure she will fight me, she doesn't like being picked up & then I'm putting her on her back, poor girl, but I want to give them the best possible chance of surviving, so she'll just have to suck it up...lol

Hi everyone! This is the first chance I've had to check in! I just got to my son's house. I will be watching the baby for the next couple of days while my DIL is working. My son is still at my house working on his Jeep with his big brother! They couldn't get everything done in time for him to come home, so I get more Declan time!💞

My youngest son & husband will take care of them while I'm gone! I will be so amazed if they all make it! Still waiting for Chloe to show signs that she's going to kindle, if she does it will probably happen while I'm gone!

On the chicken front, my husband ran some twisted double strand wire onto the fence & released the jailbird from prison, hopefully that will keep her contained!

I hope you all had a good day! 💞

Enjoy your grandma time with Declan!

Enjoy your Declan time. :) I just sent pictures of my naughty Campines on their outside nests to my grandson [3]. He loves my chickens.

Three is a fun age Ribh! How many grands do you have?

Beautiful grandkids Ribh!

No grands for me. That was something I always looked forward to while my 2 boys were growing up, but apparently they have other plans. I just get to enjoy reading about other people's.

All mine have been slow starters. I have 3 yet to get a chug~along.

Well, littliest filled her boots with water then sat in the puddle. I thought it was funny but I returned her pretty grubby. :lau

What else are grandma's for? They get to have all the fun that parents don't.
