Hi Nancy! Yes, time will tell...it's probably a mixed breed...it will be interesting to see!I think it's cute. Maybe another week or so will reveal what kind of chick it is.

Just wanted to share this.
Every year I fly at half mast on this day.

I used to do White dove release with my grandchildren. I currently don't have doves now.
View attachment 2329375This is few years ago when I did have doves. I explained to them what this day was, and what it meant.
I second that!Glad you taught the grands what it was about Cavey, it's something everyone should know about.
Wait a minute!! It just appeared out of nowhere?!?Hey all! Dale found this baby bird in our free range pen! Our chickens were already in their coop for the night. I posted the pictures on the ID forum & some say chicken, others say turkey! It must have gotten separated from its mother, whatever she is! It's kind of an ugly duckling right now...lol!

Yeah, it just showed up! We think it got separated from one of the neighbors hens. Sadly it didn't make it, we think it had been on its own for too long & it possibly had some injuries that we couldn't see.I am intrigued!! Where would it have come from?!
I’d love to find that in my run!!
I received some good advice over on Backyard Herds on the care of a large litter of kits! It was suggested that I split the litter up and rotate the kits so the mom could feed them all! I'm hoping that she's feeding them twice a day as that will be better, but I don't know if she is. I'm still away from home, so my husband is taking care of them. He will have to build another nesting box and he's just the man for the job...I'm much more optimistic now!
