Mine did NOT need eggs to be broody!! I had five at a time sitting for weeks on empty nests!

At least they sat...mine just wandered & thought about sitting...

I don't know. I am over broodies. They are all pains. I've got BRs, Wyandottes & Aracaunas rotating Someone will decide to sit, or think about sitting,& the others go out in sympathy. They hog the nesting boxes, fluff up @ me & growl @ their sisters~ & there are no eggs!!!

Thank you Jehane! It's been quite a challenge and there is still no guarantee that all of the remaining kits will make it!

Oh, I know!! Believe me.. I know! I meant.. just walking around ‘thinking’ about going broody is better than being broody!!!

Well, I finally got home the kits have at least doubled in size...they are all looking good! I will get some pictures and a video tomorrow!

I came home to 17 eggs brought in today out of 16 hens...I think some were missed yesterday! Some of my girls are laying in unassigned places lol! Oh well, we will work on that! We took @cavemanrich advice and removed a couple of the nesting box dividers, so hopefully that will help! Have a good night all!
